Our top-5 cable cars in Madeira
The most known cable car in Madeira is the one in Funchal to Monte. Most of the time combined with a toboggan ride down the hill. Our advice: don’t go there. It’s very crowded and overpriced and there are much more beautiful alternatives across the island. Here’s our personal top 5:

Highlights: the cable car brings you to the agricultural fields where you can walk around quietly

Insider tip: this activity is a better alternative to the Cabo Girao viewpoint, which is very touristic and busy

Highlights: in the north-west, close to Porto Moniz you’ll find the Teleferico das Achadas da Cruz. It’s very scenic and the paths down below are many times featured on Instagram.
