What to Expect on the Trail

We were surprised this levada is not so know as it’s absolutely stunning. It offers a lot of variety: waterfalls, mountain peaks, ocean views and many other surprises. Be aware it goes on and off so you need to be in good shape.

Safety

Paths are wide, no big cliffs so pretty safe for Madeira standards.

Parking & Logistics

We parked at the start, be aware not to park at the restaurants parking lot. You can also park at the endpoint. We planned to take a taxi back, but in this area there were no taxis, so we lifted back. Book your slot via this link.

What to Pack for This Hike

Solid hiking boots, clothing in layers, a head lamp for the tunnels, sunscreen, a hat, a water bottle and a backpack with snacks / food. Check out our Ultimate Madeira Packing List.
