What to Expect on the Trail

The hike goes from Caniçal to Porto da Cruz and includes the red soil landscape from São Lourenço, dramatic cliffs and ends with levadas and waterfalls.

Safety

As you pass the coastal cliffs be careful, especially in the rainy season it can get slippery.

Parking & Logistics

You can park at Cemitério do Caniçal. The hike ends at Porto da Cruz where you can enjoy a well deserved poncha at the Engenhos do Norte Distillery. From there you can take a taxi back to Caniçal. As it’s not an official hike, no booking is needed.

What to Pack for This Hike
